Employment Resignation Letter
Additional Information

Resignation is the act of relinquishing a right or privilege.  When a person resigns they are usually said to have resigned from some job or position.  A party voluntarily leaving a position can be said to berelinquishing the right or privilege to continue working for a particular firm or individual any longer.

As a general rule, individuals are free to work for whomever they choose, and to end that working relationship as well.  Many states recognize the doctrine of "employment at will".  This doctrine allows employees and employers alike to end the work relationship without any liability to the other party.  However, even in an "employment at will" state, it is advisable to send a written resignation letter to the employer.
